The audio codec is used for encoding and decoding the audio data during the SIP call session. The higher the bandwidth consumption, the more data is transmitted every second. The higher the sample rate, the smoother the sound is.
The audio codec determines the sound quality. Each codec varies by bandwidth consumption and sample rate.
Tip
Different models support different types of audio codecs.
In this article, we take IT88 for an example.
Steps
Log into the device's web interface with the username and password. The default is admin.
Go to Account > Advanced interface.
Select the registered account to apply the codec.
Enable the desired codec by moving it from the left to the right box. You can prioritize the codecs by clicking the adjustment icons highlighted in the red box.
Note
The calling device and the called device should have the same audio codec enabled, or the calling will fail.
Click Submit to save the configuration.
